Op Art with Simple Shapes
Posted by Mary Jane Nusbaum on 5/8/2020 12:00:00 PMSixth graders can explore the elements of art in this project.Focus on line design, simple shapes, balance and analogous color schemes.Analagous means colors next to each other on the color wheel.Use any materials you have. (Crayons, markers, colored pencils, digital drawing, etc)1. Draw a simple shape roughly in the center of your pagea. Color it in using analagous colors. (See below for description.)2. Draw intersecting and curvy lines in the background then fill them in with designs.a. Add a variety of thick and thin lines with light and dark areas.b. Balance them out visually so your eye keeps moving around the page.Analagous colors are colors next to each other on the color wheel. (usually three colors, but could be one or two more)
