Sounds dull, right?  Ha! This US map displays wind currents in (nearly) real time and the constant movement is mesmerizing.  It is a beautiful question generator. 

Only Google could undertake the task of digitizing the world's great art works, some in such mind-boggling detail that you will realize that you have never really seen a painting before.  Add to that street-view technology that allows you to walk through a gallery and you have a website that will enthrall you for hours.  Even if you have been to this site already, it is worth revisiting periodically as they add new works.
