Education move into Executive Session at 6:02 PM for the purpose of discussing the
employment history of particular individuals (Tenure Reviews) and discussing contract
negotiations with NPESS and NPUT.
Motion carried 6 - 0 with 6 members voting.
Out of Executive Session - Motion made by Kathleen Tobin Flusser and seconded by
Steven Greenfield that the Board return to Public Session at 7:00 PM.

PUBLIC HEARING: 2010-2011 BUDGET
Vice President Donald Kerr commented briefly on the concessions offered by some of the bargaining units and staff which allowed the board to approve a budget increase of under 1% and a tax levy increase of under 3% thus restoring a number of positions, clubs and AIS to its present level. He expressed appreciation on behalf of the Board of Education. Superintendent Rice introduced Assistant Superintendent Richard Linden who reviewed the various components to the budget that was approved by the Board of Education.
Members of the public and press were provided the opportunity to comment and ask questions during a Public Hearing regarding the proposed 2010-2011 Budget which will be presented to the voters on May 18, 2010.

Education approve the following resolution:
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
9.4 Request for Approval to Establish Student Scholarship Award
Recommendation – that the following resolution be approved: BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the New Paltz Central School District, upon the recommendation of Maria C. Rice, Superintendent of Schools, does hereby establish the Thomas Benenati Scholarship in the amount of $100 to be awarded to a student pursuing a career in education.
