Two Assistant Directors of Special Education

NYS School District Leader (SDL) or Administrator certification required

Starting salary: $120,000 - $130,000

Start date: 7/1/2026

We are seeking two collaborative and experienced leaders to support special education programs across the district. This role focuses on instructional leadership, program development, compliance, and building capacity to improve student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

●       Chairperson for Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) and Committee on Special Education (CSE) Meetings

●       Support curriculum and instruction through walkthroughs, coaching, and curriculum alignment

●       Strengthen district programs, including Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT), Resource Room, and Special Class settings

●       Ensure effective implementation of procedural practices such as FBA/BIP and other support plans

●       Guide teams in developing defensible, data driven Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), to include specially designed instruction (SDI), SMART goals, and progress monitoring using evidence

●       Lead ongoing data review to monitor student progress

●       Collaborate with administrators, staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams

●       Provide professional development and support district initiatives

●       Ensure compliance with special education laws and regulations (IDEA)

●       Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

●       Strong knowledge of special education regulations, CPSE and CSE

●       Strong knowledge of the disability categories under IDEA

●       Experience with IEP development, instructional leadership and best practices

●       Background in curriculum and instructional approaches

●       Experience with supervision, and data analysis

●       Excellent communication and collaboration skills
