For 31 years, the Duzine Giving Tree Project has been providing New Paltz Central School District students with gifts and food, thanks to the school’s nursing staff. The annual holiday event is based on the children’s book, “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. The story’s poignant message emphasizes how giving joy to loved ones can be more rewarding than receiving any gift. Duzine Nurse Joy VanVlack said her office is collecting new unwrapped gifts, such as games, toys, and books to distribute to families who need a helping hand this winter season. Donations from the Duzine/Lenape PTA Food Drive, which concludes December 21, are being distributed along with the holiday items. Food or gift donations can be dropped off at Duzine Elementary School Main Office.
