BOE MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

**Revisions were made to the NPCSD 2021-2022 Academic Calendar. Please note
that the first day of school is now Wednesday, September 8 th .
**Due to the current rise of the COVID-19 Delta Variant in Ulster County, the
NPCSD will be pausing extracurricular transportation for this coming school year.
Students will still be transported to after-school childcare.
**School will resume for a full 5 days per week, in person instruction, on the first
day of school. President Biden and NYS Education Officials have asked Districts to
encourage all students to return to school. There are no remote or hybrid
educational models for the coming school year.
**The NPCSD will be requiring masks for both students and staff in all indoor
spaces, regardless of vaccination status. We will also be requiring 3 feet of social
distancing. Deep cleaning procedures will be added to our custodial staff’s nightly
cleaning routines.
**Thank you to the following community members who were appointed to
District Board Committees for two year terms: Michael Domitrovits and Matthew
Williams (Facilities Committee), Randall Leverette (Audit Committee), Mala
Hoffman and Steve Greenfield (Legislative Action Committee) and Allison
Lauchaire, Melissa Yang-Rock and Jennifer Berry (Racial Equity Advisory
Committee).
**Student members of our Racial Equity Advisory Committee (REIAC) are needed
for the upcoming school year. Please print out and complete the application and
return it our District Clerk, Sandra Ermo at the District Office. The application can
be found of the District’s website.
**Field usage by outside groups will be permitted for the coming school year and
will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, when our fields are not in use by Districtathletic groups. Please fill out the online Facilities Use form on the District
website or speak to Melody in our Facilities Department. The District Facilities
Committee will be updating this form in the fall.
**The NPCSD Board of Education will be investigating options for the removal or
sale of the old District office building, located at the New Paltz Middle School on
the corner of Main Street.
**Congratulations and welcome to Ms. Jennifer Mojica, who has been appointed
Coordinator of Student Support Services effective 9/1/2021.
**Congratulations to New Paltz High School alumnus and former football star
player Brandon Egan-Thorpe, who was appointed as Varsity Football Head Coach
for this season. The full list of fall coaching appointments will be posted on the
District’s website under “District Athletics”.
**District Clerk Sandra Ermo is working on a printed 2021-2022 School Calendar,
which will be mailed to all families shortly.
Next Board of Education Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 18 th at 6pm
in the High School Auditorium.
