    Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering Teacher - Full-time Probationary. NYS Teaching Certification required.

    Position Overview

    New Paltz High School is currently seeking a passionate and certified Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators. As a key member of our teaching staff, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of young engineers, inspiring innovation, and fostering a deep understanding of engineering principles through the PLTW curriculum. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our students' educational journey and prepare them for future success in the field of engineering.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and deliver engaging PLTW Engineering courses in alignment with NYS standards and PLTW curriculum requirements.
    • Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration among students.
    • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.
    • Stay current with the latest educational technologies and engineering practices to enrich the classroom experience and enhance learning outcomes.
    • Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and the wider school community to support district-wide goals and initiatives.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities related to PLTW, engineering education, and teaching certification requirements in NYS.
    • Engage with students, parents, and guardians to support student achievement and address any academic or behavioral concerns.

    Qualifications

    • Valid New York State teaching certification in Science, Technology, Math, Art, or a related field.
    • Certified or willing to be certified to teach Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering courses.
    • Proven experience in teaching engineering or related subjects at the high school level is preferred.
    • Strong understanding of the PLTW curriculum and the ability to integrate real-world engineering challenges into the classroom.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for teaching.
