Social-Emotional Learning

Students in Meredith Oppenheimer and Erin Bulson's Grade 4 class kicked off the school year with an exciting STEM challenge that blended creativity with social-emotional learning!

After reading "The Thing Lou Couldn’t Do" by Ashley Spires, students applied lessons on empathy and inclusion to help their “Harrys” by designing safe and cozy perches for them.

Armed with tin foil, pipe cleaners, cupcake liners, and tape, each partner team crafted unique homes for their unique Harrys!

Each group reflected on their design process by presenting their perch to the class. They explained how their designs would keep Harry safe and comfortable, and shared personal touches to enhance Harry’s well-being in the perch they created.
