What is the school social worker's role in special education?
· Complete social histories (parent interviews) and social history updates
· Consult with mainstream and special education teachers to develop and implement pre-referral interventions
· Design and implement Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
· Participate on the Instructional Study Team (IST) and Case Management Team as well as on the Committee on Special Education (CSE)
· Provide social, emotional, behavioral, functional and adaptive assessments
· Provide individual and group counseling to students who have those services on their Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.) or 504 Plans
