    Middle School of Rock

    Recently, NPMS’s School of Rock band traveled to Duzine Elementary School, where Duzine Principal Ross Hogan introduced the group’s performance by asking the time-honored question, “Are you ready to rock…?” The under-eight-years-old crowd responded with a resounding ‘Yes!’” Grade 7 and Grade 8 student musicians from band and chorus audition every fall for the Middle School’s afterschool School of Rock program.     Middle School Grade 6 students in MaryJane Nusbaum and Kim Abrahamsen’s art classes honored Black History Month by learning about AFRICOBRA an art movement created by a Chicago-based group of black artists whose shared aim was to develop their own aesthetic in the visual arts in order to empower and uplift black communities.     Middle School Students Transform into Wizards and Monsters After School With the Toss of the Dice

    The New Paltz Middle School halls have been abuzz with rumors of unusual paranormal activity occurring in Room 24. It is said that the sound of casting dice can be heard clattering on desks, signifying that fighters, magic users, thieves, dwarfs, elves, and halflings inhabit the classroom, exploring fantasy worlds together. Rumors? Or, the iconic role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)? Read on!

    Middle School Students Support Annual Blood Drive

    New Paltz Middle School (NPMS) hosted its twentieth annual Blood Drive for the New York Blood Center (NYBC) while the building was closed for a Superintendent’s Conference and Election Day. Approximately 85 students from Melissa Gruver-LaPolt’s Grade 8 Health class volunteered by soliciting, greeting, and attending to donors, and received community service hours towards the class’s community service requirement.
