Middle School Students Go Time-Hopping

Jennifer Hicks’ Grade 8 Social Studies class in the Middle School is working on post-World War II United States timelines. Tasked with selecting adjectives that correspond to the different decades, students selected “hardship,” “productive,” and “suspicion” to describe the 1950’s.

In the coming weeks, students will apply adjectives to each decade from the 1950’s through the 1990’s. They will discuss connections and trends between the decades as well as to the present day. Then, students will plan a “Time Travel Road Trip” by selecting a decade to visit and—keeping their destination in mind—decide what to bring, what to wear, the music to listen to, and how to get there. After returning from their decade of choice, students will submit a review on Yelp to share their experience!
