    To Parents, Caregivers, and Staff:

Today we were notified that one of our Duzine Elementary staff members has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member was last in attendance on Friday, March 19 and was not experiencing any symptoms.  Due to an exposure outside of school, a COVID-19 test was warranted which today came back positive.  No quarantines of students or staff will be required.  Notification has been made to the Ulster County Department of Health in accordance with reporting requirements.

Please remember, COVID-19 symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus and include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. If your child experiences any of these symptoms, please keep them home from school and closely monitor. Consult with your child’s doctor for advice whenever needed.

Once again, we urge vigilance and responsibility. Please do not hesitate to contact the nurse’s office if you have any questions or concerns, however, please understand that student privacy will continue to be protected as required by law. Please contact Principal Hogan at 256-4350 or Nurse Joy at 256-4360.

We hope you will join us in extending healthy wishes to all those who have been impacted.
