    To Parents, Caregivers, and Staff:

Today we were notified that one of our New Paltz Middle School students has tested positive for COVID-19.  The student was last in school on Friday, November 19, 2021 and was not symptomatic.  The student was in contact with several other students that will need to quarantine.   All required notifications to the Ulster County Department of Health have been made as well as notifications to the families of the impacted students.

Please remember, COVID-19 symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus and include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. If your child experiences any of these symptoms, please keep them home from school and closely monitor them. Consult with your child’s doctor for advice whenever needed.

Once again, we urge vigilance and responsibility. Please do not hesitate to contact the nurse’s office if you have any questions or concerns.  Please contact Principal Sheldon at 256-4200 or Nurse Erin at 256-4210.

We hope you will join us in extending healthy wishes to all involved.

    Sincerely,

    Angela Urbina-Medina

    Superintendent of Schools
