Dear Parents, Students, Faculty, Staff, and Community Members,

I wanted to let you know that the school year at NPCSD is off to a great start.  Opening days and many orientation activities are behind us and we have begun to settle into a solid educational routine.  It is great to have the students back in the buildings.

Here are a couple of thoughts and updates I would like to share with you:

    Thank you for your questions

We have a few new initiatives starting this year.  These include an updated attendance policy, an updated code of conduct, a new cell phone policy in the high school, updated COVID processes, a new student support program in the Middle School, and a new early literacy program in Duzine.

I have received many questions about these changes.  Your questions have helped us evaluate both the changes and the way they are communicated to the public.  Thank you for your questions and please feel free to continue to reach out when you need additional information.

    Open houses coming up

Much work has gone into preparing the school and classrooms for the arrival of students.  Teachers have worked hard to prepare quality academic programs for their students.  One of the best ways for parents to get a first hand look at the results of these efforts is to attend our annual open houses.  Open Houses are scheduled for the following dates and times:

HIGH SCHOOL Open House is Wednesday, September 20, from 6 PM - 8 PM.

MIDDLE SCHOOL Open House is Thursday, September 21, from 6 PM - 8 PM.

LENAPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Open House is Wednesday, September 27, from 6 PM - 8 PM.

DUZINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Open House is Thursday, September 28, from 6 PM - 8 PM.

We encourage all parents to attend one or more of these events.   Positive school/family relationships are important at all levels.

    Student handbooks

As you are probably aware, each of our four school buildings has its own student handbook.  They provide a lot of good information about the operation of each school that is useful to parents and students.  You can find the student handbook for your child’s school by following these links:

Fall sports are in full swing

We are pleased to be able to offer a large number of fall sports for our students.  We hope that the parents and community will come out and support our athletes whenever possible.  A full listing of the interscholastic sports schedule can be found at: sports.

    ***********

That is all for now.  Thank you to all of the hardworking students, parents, faculty, and staff who are making it possible.  Quality education requires a full team effort.

    Best Wishes,

    Stephen Gratto - Superintendent
