Lenape Students Explore Streams, Forest Beds for Life

Christine Pallus’ Grade 3 class in Lenape Elementary School recently visited Mohonk Preserve to explore layers of the forest and stream. The class discovered creatures using strainers and spoons which they then identified with a flow chart and categorized based on which layer they were found within the steam or the forest floor. Students identified life forms that swim, crawl, walk, and fly such as dragonfly larvae, water striders, tadpoles, salamanders, millipedes, centipedes, spiders, and more. Our budding student ecologists did a terrific job!
