    GIF to KNOW:
    1. In your graphics note doc, answer 4 questions:
-What is a GIF? Who is the 'original inventor'
-Try to describe how a gif works
    -What is dithering?
-What is the number of colors a GIF can use?
-What are the Characteristics of a GIF?
    -GIF's support 256 colors and a 72 dpi
-Other formats: SWF/MP4/flv will support millions of colors,
    but they are not GIF's.
    -GIFS have no sound
    -GIF's are (usually) repetitive.
-A GIF will support transparency on the internet

To get video files into Photoshop:
    File>Import Video frames to layers.
-Use manual controls plus shift to
select a piece of the video.
-Make sure to decide whether to check 'limit to every' and go
up from 2 to increase the drop frame number.

To fix Video Proportions: If your video looks 'smooshed'.
     1. Go to image size.
    2. UNCHECK constrain proportions
    3. Change the width and the height with each other
    4. Say okay

To Reduce the overall frame/canvas size:
    1. Go  to image size menu
    2. CHECK Constrain proportions again
    3. Go to width in inches or pixels and lower the number
Rule of thumb: The frame should not exceed 500 pixels or 6 inches in width. And you can go smaller if you have a lot of frames.

If your GIF is running slow in a browser:
-If your GIF runs at the correct speed in Photoshop but slow in a browser window try the following:
-Reduce the overall image size to be less than 500 pixels in any direction. (be sure to constrain proportions)
-Save for web and devices again, play it, and see if that helped.
-If it is still slow, you need to 'lighten the file' by removing every other, or every third frame from the timeline. (take out unnecessary layers too).
-Save for web and devices and preview it again.

     Other:
-Remember you can also use Transform tools for animation like rotate, warp scale, distort etc- but you MUST duplicate the layer for each change
-If something is selected on a layer- you can affect just that area with 'image>image adjustments' or with filters
-Right click on a selection for a shortcut to feather or refine edge. (make sure selection tool is your current tool)
-Layer via cut- right click on selection>layer via cut-cuts selected area and pastes it to a new layer. (make sure selection tool is your current tool)
-Layer via copy>right click on selection-layer via copy- copies material to new layer but does not cut it from original layers.
-Layer blend modes- change from normal to other blend modes, in order to use layers as overlays.
-Change opacity to make something overlay.
-Tweening- set up the frames using a single layer that you have changed from one frame to another.  Click on end of animation bar for fly out>say 'tween', choose opacity, effects or position or all three depending on what you want to do
-To change timing of frames- click on bottom of individual frames and change time.
-To select all frames: open fly out menu on end of animation bar and say 'select all frames'
