Make sure you click on the link "OPEN IN CUSTOMIZER" Change the setting for results. Write what you think of Thingiverse customizer. 4. Go to Shapeways and use 'shop' menu to browse 'collections'. Find several models or links you think are interesting. Write about them in your notes and insert pics (if possible to save them). 5. Again at Shapeways, try the EASY 3D APPS . TIPS/Reminders **When opening your existing saved project file> Open sculptress, then open your file, then say "new Scene" NOT 'Add object'. **If you want to tryout a tool- bring in a blank sphere, or have a scrap 'sculpritss' file *When you are adding a sphere- click on new sphere icon and in 'create sphere say "add object" NOT new scene! -Do not just draw relief on surface, think of the form! 4/20 Do Now: Make sure you have completed the Character development sheet and sketch. Write the name of your character on top of sheet. Be prepared to share. Today: -Introduce your character to the class -Look at facial expression, posture, creature references to help develop the form, expression, and posture of your character. Be sure to write your password down. -At Shapeways you will see 'shop' and 'create'. First look through the shop section. Go through the categories they have on the left menu. Click on various items and see how much it costs to print in varying materials. -Then go to 'make; menu and click on 'start creating' and 'try 3d tools'. Explore the 3d tools. -In your notes, please answer these questions: What is Shapeways? (Describe it in your own words). What services and products does it offer? Who would most likely use this site? What is one way you could see yourself using Shapeways? Activity # 2. (10 minutes) Now go to Thingiverse and make an account there through the dashboard link. Today, we are LEARNING how to use Sculptriss by working on a random face. Please do not start modeling a character- we will start that next block. PLEASE complete the exercise below BEFORE you start working on your own logo design. This exercise will be for a grade. Today: Logo Redesign 1. Choose an existing logo for a major company to redesign. Save it in class folder 2. Do a few sketches for the redesign of this logo in the boxes below. 3. Open Photoshop and create a new 10 (w) inch by 8(h) inch 300 res canvas 4. Save this canvas into your class folder as Redesign_last_name 5. Use photoshop tools (and illustrator) to create an new design of that existing logo. 5. Place the original logo on the left and the redesigned logo on the right and save as a jpeg into the folder called REDESIGNED_LOGOS (as seen below) ![]() 6. Then, create a 'mock up t shirt' Open the photoshop file called T-SHIRT_MOCK UP located in our class folder.Save this file to your class folder and rename the file to include your last name. See the example of artwork on the image of the t shirt on the layers. It will be better to use your psd to copy the t-shirt artwork to the mock-up, because you don't want your artwork to have a white rectangle behind it when you put it on the T-shirt image. Do the best you can! Choose white or black, or do both. You can do multiple ones- just close the layers you do not need to see at the moment. Change the background color if you want. Save final mock-ups as jpegs to your class folder, and then copy and paste jpegs to final projects folder. 3. New Assignment: Create a Digital Self- Portrait in Photoshop using your choice of tools and techniques. Sign up for a free account on TinkerCad software app. Then go to the gallery and check out the assortment of 3d models. 3. Go to Rhino 3d modeling software and check out the design gallery by topic. 4. Go to Nervous System and view content and objects on both 'Projects' and 'Product Design' links. Also at Nervous System- go to Online Design Apps and try to get one of them to function. 5. Go to MakerBot site. Look at the printers and scanners they have by clicking 'view all' -scroll down. Also, look at Design and Models (top of menu) and check out some of the 3d printed things and models. Then, look at the Design Apps . Try to run any one or more of the design apps. Then... Answer the following questions and print them out as a selection: 1. List 5 to 10 'objects' or 'things' that you think would be cool to design and print with the three d printer. For each one, describe it's function or use and why it's cool to make.
