Integrated Technology teacher Angelo Urrico has been creating a buzz with his visits to the classrooms at Duzine and Lenape Elementary Schools with some fun new technology—Bee-Bots! Mr. Urrico’s “hive” of programmable floor robots has introduced younger students to the basic concepts of coding with a colorful, hands-on approach. Students in Janice Hoffer’s Grade 2 class learned how to program commands, directional language, sequencing, and problem-solving with their Bee-Bot—sting-free! In no time, they successfully programmed their “Bot” to go forward and backward, spin, pause, come to a stop, and move around a square. Color us impressed!
