New Paltz Choir Raises Their Voices

Every Wednesday after school, ethereal voices rise and crescendo to the striking of piano key notes and can be heard throughout the hallways of the High School thanks to the A Cappella Club. Chorale Director Nicole Foti pantomimes a “stretch” with her hands to coach over 50 student singers on how to breathe while holding a long note. The club convenes to rehearse songs for the school’s upcoming Winter and Spring Concerts. No singing experience is necessary as student singers learn techniques, inflection, sight-reading, timing, and more. Ms. Foti’s broad smile, clear direction, and grand gestures coax even the most inhibited voice to open up. Students interested in joining should contact Ms. Foti for more information.
