• How did the US Government respond to the demands of "We the People"?

The Civil Rights movement is rooted in the foundations of American Democracy.  Using the principles of American government, citizens were able to persuade the leaders of the nation that action was needed in order to create a "more perfect union".  The Civil Rights Movement has become a template for other American movements and can be viewed as a success story  of American Democracy.
