Stretch canvas2. Select an image to sketch ontowc paper3. Choose a warm or cool scheme4. Practice making colors in that scheme on a small piece of wc paper to be used as reference in class. (mix your own colors don't just use the ones out of the cakes)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2 Day Glaze (note - we are not actually going to do this one... it's here for your reference)Day 1
-
Begin with a light pencil drawing
-
Create the entire "underpainting" in a monochromatic scheme (I recommend blue, gray, green, violet or brown)
-
Pay attention to values and light
-
Do not be afraid to use dark value in shadowed areas but do not create large "black" areas the will overpower your painting
-
Leave the lightest areas white
-
Complete the painting to the final details
Day 2-
Painting directly over the monochromatic painting, use color to enhance the piece
-
This step should be done in thin washes so that you get a glazed effect
-
Be aware of the properties of color (if you put a yellow wash over a blue background it will appear green)
