• REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE (SCHOOL)

    Substitute – Per Diem

    Salary: $225.00 per Day

    Start: ASAP

    This is a professional nursing position involving responsibility for giving care to students and for performing related nursing services requiring judgment and skill.  The work is performed under the general direction of a School Physician or other higher level health care professional.  Does related work as required.

    TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

    • Assists the School Physician or other higher level health care professional in physical, visual and auditory screening examinations of students and employees;
    • Administers medication prescribed by students’ physician;
    • Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees;
    • Assists at school immunization clinics;
    • Arranges to transport sick or injured students or employees to hospital, home, doctor’s or dentist’s office in cases of emergency;
    • Inspects the school plant, playground and cafeteria and reports on general safety and sanitary conditions;
    • Orders, inventories and oversees the storage of first aid and health related supplies and equipment;
    • Responsible for obtaining all pertinent information concerning students’ health history;
    • Prepares and maintains complete and accurate records and reports relating to the health of students;
    • Consults with, and advises, appropriate staff concerning a variety of health issues;
    • May contact Department of Social Services regarding suspected child abuse or neglect;
    • May counsel parents regarding health needs of students;
    • May make referrals if follow up medical problems exist;
    • May review applications for free and reduced lunch programs and provide recommendations to appropriate administrative personnel.

    TEACHER AIDE – Full Time

    Salary $14.00 per hour

    This position is responsible for assisting teachers and other professional staff in the performance of those duties that are related to the supporting the needs of student.  Work is performed under the general supervision of a teacher or other professional staff member.

    Assists children by caring for their special education needs as directed by the teacher or supervisor;

    • Assists teachers with study hall, corridor, lunchroom and other monitorial duties;
    • Works with individuals or small groups to review their progress in a remedial program;
    • Assists in routine classroom housekeeping chores;
    • Assists in organizing and supervising group games and related activities;
    • May read and tell stories to children;
    • May occasionally supervise a class when the teacher is out of the room;
    • May be asked to use Chromebooks, or other device, to support student learning.

    Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of

    Education, candidates for employment in school districts must obtain clearance for appointment from the

    State Education Department based upon fingerprinting and a criminal history background check.

    CUSTODIAN

    Salary $38,000-44,000 per year commensurate with experience


    The work of employees in this class is distinguished by responsibility for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of a small school building or for a larger building on an assigned shift. Work is performed under general supervision with some leeway for use of independent judgment in keeping the building up to approved standards of cleanliness and operation. Supervision may be exercised over the work of a small number of cleaning or custodial personnel. Does related work as required.

    • Performs all building cleaning activities;
    • Assigns tasks to subordinates, gives instructions in the use of building cleaning supplies, materials and equipment, and checks to see that assignments are carried out;
    • Operates or checks the operation of oil, gas or coal fired heating system;
    • Checks to insure that buildings are heated, cleaned, locked, and in readiness for all activities;
    • Consults with superior regarding unusual maintenance problems and makes recommendations concerning the purchase of supplies, materials and equipment;
    • Keeps simple activity records;
    • May remove snow and ice from walks, pathways and steps;
    • May perform a variety of semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other building maintenance tasks;
    • May supervise and participate in a variety of grounds keeping activities.

    Good knowledge of building cleaning practices, materials and equipment, and the ability to use them efficiently and economically; ability to make minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical repairs and to perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks; ability to understand and carry out oral and/ or written directions; ability to assign work to others; ability to get along well with others; willingness to perform cleaning and other manual tasks; thoroughness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of full-time paid building cleaning or maintenance experience, or its’ part-time equivalent.

    CUSTODIAL WORKER
    Salary $31,500 per year


    The work involves responsibility for the performance of building cleaning and minor maintenance tasks. The work is carried out in accordance with established procedures or specific instructions and involves repetitive manual work. This class differs from that of Custodian in that Custodial Worker is unskilled entry-level work, whereas Custodian functions at a higher level and has greater responsibility. The work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher level employee. Supervision over the work of others is not normally a function of the class. Does related work as required.

    May perform all functions of a Cleaner as well as:

    • Delivers packages and messages;
    • Assists in unloading incoming supplies;
    • Repairs window shades, replaces light bulbs, soap and towels;
    • Paints rooms and equipment and assists in making minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs;
    • May mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves and perform a variety of other grounds keeping tasks as assigned;
    • May assist in the operation of an oil, gas or coal fired pressure heating system including firing and removing ashes;
    • May place and remove traffic safety signs.

    Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, materials and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and/ or written instructions; ability to perform a variety of minor maintenance tasks; ability to get along well with others; willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks; thoroughness; dependability; physical condition commensurate to the demands of the position.

    Food Service Cashier

    Part-time - $14.00 per hour

    This is routine work involving the operation of a cash register and the preparation of appropriate cash records.  The work is performed under the supervision of a Shcool Lunch Manager or designee.  Does related work as required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities; Working knowledge of simple business arithmetic; ability to operate a cash register; ability to add and subtract rapidly in making change; ability to maintain simple records and reports; honesty; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

     

    Food Service Helper

    Part-time $13.50 per hour

    Assists in the preparation and service of food, in the cleaning of kitchen equipment, and in related work as required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of the proper methods of serving food and of the care of tableware, silver and kitchen appliances; ability to follow oral and written directions.

     

    School Monitors 

    Part-time - 5 Hours per day

    Salary $13.50 per hour

    Positions available at High School, Middle School and Duzine Elementary.

    Working with students within the school atmosphere.

    Substitute School Bus Drivers  

    CDL-b license required with air brake and passenger and school bus endorsements.  Must meet all 19-a, SED and federal DOT requirements.  $25.00 per hour.

    Substitute School Bus Attendant

    Working with and addressing the individual needs of Special Education students while on a bus run.  Salary $13.50 per hour.

    Substitute Food Service Helper

    Substitutes replace food service employees who are sick or on medical leave and work on an "as needed" basis. Substitutes are given advance notice whenever possible. Salary $13.50 per hour

    Substitute Teachers Aide(s)

    Working in a classroom environment with children. Salary $13.50 per hour.

    Substitute School Monitor(s)
    Working within the school environment with children.  Salary $13.50 per hour.

    Substitute Custodial Worker(s) – Civil Service Labor Class
    Should have experience with heavy cleaning, use of power equipment, preferably within a school atmosphere.  Salary $15.00 per hour.

    Substitute Maintenance Worker
    Experience with grounds work and use of power equipment within a school atmosphere.  Also knowledge of building maintenance and repair practices.  Ability to maintain records and carry out detailed instructions.  Salary $20.00 per hour.

    Substitute Clerical

    Responsibilities to include:  Typing, answering phones, general office duties.  Salary - $13.50 per hour.

    Substitute Registered Nurses (RN) - NYS License Required

    Substitutes replace School Registered Nurses employees who are sick or on medical leave and work on an "as needed" basis.  Substitutes are given advance notice whenever possible.  Salary $225 per day. 

    Substitute Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Teacher Aide - NYS License Required

    Substitutes replace LPN/Teacher Aide employees who are sick or on medical leave and work on an "as needed" basis.  Substitutes are given advance notice whenever possible.  Salary $150 per day.
