    4th Quarter Homework
Choose a subject of study.  It can be simple if you wish, but should have variety. You will be investigating this subject for
several weeks so make sure it is interesting enough to keep you motivated.

Each week should produce a new set of studies around your subject.  There are a lot of things that you can explore, here are                                           some examples:
Make studies of different objects in the same category.
Draw different views of the same subject.
    Zoom in or out.
Use a variety of different media.
Experiment with work surfaces. (put in sketchbook later).
Find actual images for reference (photos, magazines etc)
    and much more.

See below for examples from different sketchbooks to help get a better idea of what you should
    be doing.

On the due dates I will meet with you individually.  I will make note of your progress and we will discuss what direction you                                        should go next.

    HW Due Dates:
    2 Pages Research       A 4/23 - B 4/24
    "                "                A 4/29 - B 4/30
    "                "                B 5/6 - A 5/7
    Sketches for piece      B 5/14 - A 5/15 (one page thumbnails)

25pts. Each – these due dates are firm! – make sure you have at least 2 pages (or more) of useful information (25 pts. Worth!)

Final Exam – Art work (25% of your final exam)

Due Date:  A 5/30 - B 5/31  - There will be no late credit.  You must have a piece this day.

Create a piece of art that is the culmination of all of your research.  Use the information that you have gathered and the

knowledge that you have gained to produce a successful work of art.  Your piece may be no smaller than 9in by 12in and
no larger than 18in by 24in. This piece will be graded using our traditional rubric.  It will be 25% of your final exam; the
other 75% is a written exam.

You may choose any subject that will fit, but if you are stumped here are some thoughts:  birds, architecture, plant life/flowers,

aged/weathered faces, trees, collections, nuts and bolts, shells, hands, glasses (for drinking or wearing), animals (pick a species:                          horses, cats, dogs etc), insects and so on…
    * note:  the thing you study should be accessible to you, don’t pick mythical creatures or landscapes found on other continents etc.
