• Inspired by the Environment - We HAIKU!

High School PIGlets (Participation In Government) visited Lenape classrooms to bring awareness to the topics of Deforestation, Invasive Species, Plastic Pollution, and Overfishing.  While the subjects are BIG, our individual responsibility is do-able and realistic if we keep our attention on what we CAN do, wherever we are, to create and maintain a healthy environment.

Lenape students were invited to share their reflections on the environment in the form of Haiku - the ancient Japanese form of poetry that uses 17 syllables.  The suggested structure of 5/7/5 (syllables per line) can guide; but as long as 17 are used, it is Haiku!  High School students were available to assist students with jumpstarting and brainstorming around topics that have made an impression, and to lend a hand with confirming syllable count.  Thanks to Angie, Kazu, and Sean!
