    Galze...Glaze... Glaze

    1. Glaze firing today at the end of the block

    2. All Greenware needs to be done and dry for Saturday bisque firing

    3. All pottery needs to be photographed and saved in your classes folder

    4. Possible Glaze firing on Monday or Tuesday

    Work Quickly and Efficiently.

    Friday will be the last glaze firing before the holidays.

    1.  Please get everything glazed today and Thursday.

    2.  Work on your luminary.

    3.  Please show me your sketches if you haven't done so already.

    4.  Complete your coil pot rubric.

    Please gather all your pots at your seat with you.

              to stay after school and work.  I want all greenware done before Thanksgiving break.

     

    Are you done with everything?  Make something for yourself.

    2nd group for throwing- meet with me so I can demo for you,

    Activity:  

    4 students signed up to throw on the wheel today - 
                                
                 View handout, gather tools please grab tools and knead your clay  Fix 2-3 balls of 1.5 lbs.
                 

    Everyone else- please finish glazing - Remember 3 good solid coats- put on shelf to be fired.

    Continue with your coil pot- these should be ready to be dried by next class.

    Goal is to have coil pot done by the end of class today.

    Continue to photograph your pieces: 3 different views of the same piece- put it into your classes folder.

    Research: 2 more research project for this quarter- make certain you follow directions and include bibliographies.videos for throwing:

    4 students signed up to throw on the wheel today - please see me for direction
                 View handout, gather tools and sit together and view the videos at the bottom of the handout
                 Wedge 1-2 lbs of clay- wedge it well and form it into a ball.

    Everyone else- please finish glazing - Remember 3 good solid coats- put on shelf to be fired.

    Do Now:  Sign up for throwing on the wheel.  We will begin next quarter.
                   Sign up for 2 consecutive class periods and be certain that you are here for those classes.

    Activity:
                 1.  Complete the Ocarina Rubric- your grade will remain a zero until this has been completed
                 2.  All first quarter pots must be glazed. Please be certain that you have 3 complete layers on it 
                      otherwise it will not turn out as expected.
                 3.  All pots that are to be smoked need to be given to me so that I can plan out the smoker.
                 4. The coil pot will be graded in 2nd quarter

                 5. RESEARCH project must be turned in by Friday. No lates on this Quarter 1 is done on Friday.
                     2 research projects must be completed by then.

    Do Now: Complete all glazing.  Glaze firing will be 11/5

    Coil pot activity is under way:  Due date is 11/12
       Sketches must be done first
       Be certain to include both smooth areas and coiled areas
       Make it approx 10 inches tall
       Must be balanced and stand on its own
       Coils must be slipped and scored together

    End of Quarter is 11/8:  All work prior to the coil must be completed and all bisqueware glazed
                                        2 research reports must be completed per the activity and turned in
                                        Late reports will not be accepted
