    Hello Everyone,

I hope you are doing well.  I have only gotten a couple of reports

from people- please take this time to get this done.

I have a due date of 4/15 on all 4 of the reports so please get

them to me.  Since we have very few ways to assess pottery,

this is one way we can get a grade.  As you know the reports were

part of the curriculum from the beginning.

I will begin linking videos pertaining to throwing on the wheel or other

ceramic techniques.  These will be fun and interesting and will have a worksheet

to go along with them.  The vocab list will need to be completed as well.

OK- !st order of business- get the reports to me as soon as possible. By the 15th at the latest.

    Hi Everyone,

Please send me a picture of both pages of your report as you complete it.

I expect that every 2 days, you will have 1 report done so all 4 should be done

by 4/15.  I will also link the vocab list and ask that you look up each word to define them.

If you have any questions. Please reach out via email.  I will be at my computer

from 10-1 MWF and 3-5 on T Th.

Dear CEramics Class,  It seems as if we are using snow days for this week
and our spring break will be next week. If I get word
that we will be out for longer than the planned 2 weeks, I
will be posting more information for you. I know you all
must be bored so take advantage of this time to get your
4 research projects done.  The link is poste back a few days.
Work to get these done so you don't have to think about them.
                                Check periodically for updates.

For now: stay healthy, wash you hands, stay away from crowds.
                                 Check periodically for updates.

Everything that can be glazed- should be glazed by the end of clas today.

We will be firing a glaze firing on Monday.

Tea Cups should be done by the end of class as well.
Remember your design will be painted on with underglaze.

    What is underglaze?

Underglazes are used in pottery to create designs and patterns
that come up through the glaze covering them. This can give the
surface more visual depth and character. Although they are often
used under clear glazes, they can also be used under other,
    generally light-colored, transparent glazes.

Today we will learn about underglazing:

Underglazes are used in pottery to create designs and patterns
that come up through the glaze covering them. This can give the
surface more visual depth and character. Although they are often
used under clear glazes, they can also be used under other,
    generally light-colored, transparent glazes.

I would like you to paint a design on your tea cups using underglaze.

Please understand that to see them your final glaze needs to be transparent
    or transluscent.

    Do Now:

Finish glazing your pinch pot and your kiln guardian.

Be certain to : Record your glaze color in your sketch book

Stir your glaze with the back end of the paint bruch

Wipe down your piece with a damp clean sponge

Paint on 3 solid coats of glaze- keep track

Wipe off the bottom of the pot- no glaze touching the shelves

    Activity:

Begin working on your Japanese Tea Cups- remember 1- winter, 1 summer

    What is the difference?

Surface design- think of ideas- related to each other
